Bishop  Stenneth   E. Powell, Sr.

Bishop Stenneth E. Powell, Sr. is a man of Excellence, Integrity and Vision. He was born to Hubert Sr. and Edith Powell and is the second of six children. His spiritual upbringing and deep Pentecostal roots in the Church of God in Christ established a firm foundation for his spiritual journey. For more than thirty years he has been proclaiming the gospel with the anointing that transforms lives and empowers the believer to walk in their God-given dominion and authority. Bishop Powell has an unquestionable apostolic mandate on his life, and has been walking in that anointing by planting churches in his native state of Connecticut and in his current home state of North Carolina.

Bishop Powell possesses a keen capability to achieve business and entrepreneurial success. He studied business at the University of Hartford. He has many notable accomplishments including being the author of  his debut book, “What to do before you say I do” as well as a collection of other smaller publications. His passion for the word of God and instruction for the people of God led him to receive a Bachelors of Theology from Cloverdale College and a Masters of Theology from Graduate Theological Foundation.

Some things only happen once in a lifetime and for Bishop Powell this was the moment he found and met the love of his life, Beverly Ann Powell. They married and from this joyous union he was blessed to be the father to two sons, Stenneth Jr. and Joshua who are both actively involved in supporting their father’s ministry. First Lady Powell stands supportive by his side and is also actively involved in the ministry serving as the Executive Administrator of Abundant Life Christian Center.

As the First Lady of the North Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction you’ll find her standing firmly by her husband’s side interceding for her husband the Jurisdiction. Bishop Powell understands what it means to respond to God’s call and commence with humble beginnings. In 1990,Bishop Powell founded his ministry Abundant Life Christian Center in Raleigh NC with just six members. No one told him the journey would be easy, but his decision to remain faithful and his commitment to the call of God allowed his ministry to flourish to a congregation of over 1500. Bishop Powell lives according to James 4:10 “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” It was in 1996 that he was appointed Superintendent by Bishop Cornelius E. Anderson, Sr. and began to serve the North Carolina Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. On November 10th. 2013 Pastor Powell was consecrated as the newly elected Jurisdictional Prelate of the North Carolina Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction in the city of St. Louis, MO. We celebrate his past achievements and are excited about the future of this Jurisdiction.

Bishop Powell was  afforded the opportunity to serve and be mentored by many of the great leaders of the North Carolina Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction including the late Bishop Sherman, the late Bishop C.E. Anderson, Sr., and the late Bishop Otis Lockett, Sr. Bishop Powell esteems the life and legacy of each former leader. Bishop Powell  is connected to the past and committed to the future.

Great God! Great Vision! Great Accomplishments!

Much can be said about Bishop  Powell who is an ingenious leader with an anointing to develop God’s people. He has birthed many sons from his own ministry who have answered their call to begin ministries of their own. These sons have found Bishop Powell to not only be a spiritual father, but also a Pastor’s friend. In 1997 he birthed the Triangle District Fellowship with the aim of empowering and mentoring Pastors, especially those who were and are new Pastors. This fellowship enriches those who join as they gain insight on cultivating balance to increase their fellowship with Christ and strengthening their families while developing and providing strategic ways to build a dynamic ministry. Through Bishop Powell, various leaders and churches worldwide have received ministerial structure and guidance to assist them in achieving excellence in ministry. He continues his efforts to lead out and advance God’s kingdom by building brothers, building leaders, building relationships and building communities by remaining committed to being available for the sons in the Gospel as a spiritual father with a servant’s heart. We celebrate the accomplishments of Bishop Powell.
